Naveen Patnaik inaugurates 26th National Children’s Science Congress in Bhubaneswar

The 26th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) which is being hosted at SOA University was inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik. The educational event is conducted annually by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), a Government of India undertaking.

Patnaik in a statement said “Theme for this year’s NCSC – ‘Science Technology and Innovation for a Clean, Green and Healthy Nation’ is apt as environment and health have emerged as two major concerns of our time.”

“My Government is focussing a lot on development of scientific temper amongst our children through organisation of different science-based programmes at various levels. We are establishing science parks and planetariums at district-level to create interest among children in various aspects of science and technology” he added.

The five day event encourages children to showcase their creative side by conducting technical sessions, exhibitions and discussions.

Children aged between 10-17 years will attend the event, including over 800 school students. Moreover, children from 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and five Gulf countries will be a part of the event.

The NCSC will conclude on December 31, 2018.
