Vision 2024: Odisha Cricket Association Promises Academies in Each District
The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) started the first phase of their District Infrastructure Development Program and Cricket Academies as it marches towards the [email protected] project. As part of the [email protected], the cricket association aims to set up academies across all 30 districts.
The program has been launched across 15 affiliated district units including Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Sonepur, Nuapada, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Balasore, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khordha, and Gajapati.
The ceremony was conducted virtually and was live-streamed across multiple social media platforms. Messages from eminent international cricketers from Odisha including Debashish Mohanty, Shiv Sundar Das, Sanjay Raul, and Pragyan Ojha were also broadcast.
Video messages from Hon’ble Sports Minister Shri Tusharkanti Behera, Principal Secretary Shri Vishal Kumar Dev and Secretary, FAO & Former Secretary OCA & OOA, Shri Asirbad Behera was also shared.
“The professionalism and spirited culture developed in the recent times has evolved OCA as the most pro-active association in our country. This has inspired me to join hands with Odisha Cricket as the Chief Coach,” said Wasim Jaffer, newly appointed coach of the state team.
The [email protected] project plans to set up turf wickets across the State, allowing equal opportunities to enhance the performance of aspiring cricketers. Additionally, the OCA is also planning to supply the equipment needed for the game, training, pitch, and the ground.
Every cricket academy will have a coach appointed by the OCA, who will lead the development and progress of the cricketers and help impart their knowledge and expertise and mentor young talents.
