Odisha FC Secure Narrow Victory At Hyderabad

Odisha FC have taken a big stride towards sealing a semifinal spot with a 2-1 away victory against a struggling Hyderabad FC side on Wednesday.

The visitors had the worst start to the game, conceding an early goal struck by Marcelinho in the opening minute. However, star player Aridane Santana scored a brace to secure a half-time lead. Odisha FC then went on to clinch the game aided by a solid display by goalkeeper Dorronsoro who made some great saves, including a penalty.

With this victory, Odisha FC retain their fourth spot, with a five-point lead over fifth-placed Mumbai City, who have a game in hand. Meanwhile, Hyderabad FC continued their poor run of form and remain at the bottom of the pile.

Credit has to be given to Odisha FC coach Josep Gombau who has inspired better performances from his players in the last few matches, bringing more solidity throughout the team, after a lacklustre start to the campaign.

With five games to go in the league stages, Gombau’s side have peaked just at the right time, as they battle for a spot in the semifinals. However, they are faced with a difficult run of games, competing against the top three sides in their next three league matches.
