Odisha FC Leading The Race For Thoiba Singh

Indian Super League (ISL) side Odisha FC are on the brink of signing Thoiba Singh from Punjab FC, as confirmed by Goal.com.

Thoiba Singh, who is currently 17 years old, is a hot prospect from the Minerva Punjab academy. He was promoted to the senior side in the 2018-19 season where he went on to feature in seven matches for Punjab in the I-League.

In the current season, he appeared in nine matches and also scored a goal against Chennai City FC, helping his team secure a 3-1 victory.

The youngster from Manipur has consistently represented India at the youth level. In fact, Singh was a key member of the India U16 team that reached the quarter-finals of the AFC U16 Championship in 2018.

Singh drew a lot of attention from top clubs when he became the youngest player to score in the AFC Cup against Nepalese club Manang Marshyangdi in the group stages last year. He was 16 years and 154 days old when he broke this record.

Odisha FC recently parted ways with Spanish coach Josep Gombau after just two seasons. The club are currently looking to bolster their squad, having already added Aizawl FC duo Isak Vanlalruatfela and Paul Ramfangzauva to their ranks.
