Ganjam To Have Integrated Sports Complex Worth ₹43 Crores
The government’s proposal to push for a ₹43 crore Integrated Sports Complex (ISP) project in Aurapalli is set to provide a further thrust to the Ganjam’s sports infrastructure. In addition to this, two indoor stadiums, one of which is mooted to be of international standards, are also being constructed at Hinjili and Chhatrapur.
The district administration has identified a 20-acre tract of land near Berhampur University for the proposed setup. Preparation of the detailed project report is currently underway, according to District Sports Officer (DSO) Prasant Kumar Sahoo.
The complex will house multiple facilities, including a synthetic athletic track, multipurpose indoor hall, an aquatic complex, basketball and volleyball courts, yoga hall, medical room, VIP lounge, conference hall, residential complex as well as a 150-bedded sports hostel.
The DSO also mentioned that construction of the indoor halls at Hinjili and Chhatrapur is going on at a heady pace and are nearing completion. The complex at Hinjili, which is centrally air-conditioned, is being established at a cost of ₹8 crores, while the one at Chhatrapur is being built at a price tag of ₹3 crores.
