Odisha’s PK Mishra Takes Charge As Principal Secy To Narendra Modi
Pramod Kumar Mishra, an Odisha born bureaucrat, on Wednesday assumed charge as principal secretary to the Prime Minister, in place of Nripendra Misra, who had stepped down earlier. He was also appointed to the designation of the Principal Adviser to the Prime Minister by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Mishra, earlier posted as the Additional Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, brings to the PMO experience in the fields of management of programmes relating to agriculture, disaster management, power sector, infrastructure financing and regulatory issues, where he had earlier worked.
Apart from his tenure in the PMO as the Additional Principal Secretary from 2014-19, Mishra was posted as the Secretary Agriculture and Cooperation and served as the Chairman, State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
Mishra holds a doctoral degree in economics and developmental studies from the University of Sussex, apart from a master’s degree from the Delhi School of Economics. He also has international experience, including research and academic work for four years at the Institute of Development Studies in the United Kingdom, and was involved with the negotiation and execution of Asian Development Bank and World Bank projects.
