Odisha Secretariat Renamed As ‘Lok Seva Bhawan’
The state secretariat will now officially be called the ‘Lok Seva Bhawan’ as announced by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday. This announcement was made by Patnaik while replying to the demands of the Home and General Administration departments in the Assembly.
“I would like to use this opportunity to announce that ‘Sachivalaya’ or Secretariat will be called as Lok Seva Bhawan”, Patnaik said.
Patnaik said that naming the building after the general public was a no-brainer. “I am highly indebted to the people of our state and will continue to work hard to fulfil the aspirations of our people. In a democracy, people are masters and we all exist to serve them,” he added.
This announcement was received in good spirits by the law-makers who have been demanding the rename of the building which was inaugurated on November 12, 1959.
Patnaik went on to add that he was delighted with the trust shown by the people who have elected BJD for the fifth consecutive term. He believes this is due to the high-quality governance model of the party. Patnaik also praised the law and order situation of the state. “If our State has grown at a rate higher than the national growth rate, if the State has attracted investment worth crores of rupees, it is because of the peaceful law and order situation here,” said the CM.
