Odisha Launches Nine Online Services of State Transport under 5T Initiative
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday rolled out nine online services of the State Transport Authority under the 5T initiative. The people of Odisha can now avail these services online.
The services include vehicle registration, auto-approval of goods and contract carriage permits, special permits for buses, online application of international driving permit, renewal of registration and transfer of ownership in any RTO of the State and learners licence (LL) through a mobile app – UMANG.
“With the launch of the online services, the RTOs have gone paperless enabling the citizens to get the services online from any place any time. The freedom to choose any transport office of the state for vehicle-related services will be a kind of liberation for thousands of people. The long queues in front of transport offices will soon be a thing of the past,” said Patnaik during the video conference.
“Odisha is the first state to introduce the document uploading system through digital signature with auto number generation. The new system has got rid of the manual submission of paper documents at the local RTOs,” he added.
The CM also took pride in the fact that Odisha is the first state to introduce LL application in the UMANG app, the mobile platform of the National E-Governance division. However, he is wary that such an initiative will create expectations and the STA will have to live up to the promised satisfaction level.
Commenting on Odisha’s drive towards a paperless system, 5T Secretary VK Pandian said that people are appreciative of the recent transformation happening in transport offices.
