Odisha CM Announces Plan For Ayush Hospital In Dhenkanal

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said that an AYUSH (Ayurvedic, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) hospital will soon come up in the Dhenkanal district, while laying the foundation stone for the 300-bed Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Sciences and Research Hospital at Sri Sri University in Cuttack.

Patnaik said that the government had recognised the role of homoeopathy, Ayurveda, and Unani as an integral component of healthcare long back and therefore, had already established over eight hundred functioning ayurvedic clinics and five ayurvedic hospitals, in the state.

The chief minister said yoga, ayurveda, organic food, a clean and green environment would provide a better life to the people of the state and beyond. Making a point about the importance of providing better health services and parallelly promoting health tourism, he said, “I hope both public and private initiatives will go a long way in realising the dream of a Healthy Odisha, Happy Odisha.”

Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the Sri Sri University, remarked that the hospital will be functional by 2020-end. “We opened an ayurveda clinic in the campus last month. Within a month, more than 1000 patients have been treated in the clinic. We are giving maximum importance to people from the BPL category”, he said.
