Medical College A Necessity In Bhadrak Says Pradhan
Union Minister for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan has urged CM Naveen Patnaik to seek the Centre’s help in establishing a medical college in Bhadrak district under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK).
According to Pradhan, the lack of a tertiary medical facility in Bhadrak means that there is a serious need for a medical college as it would benefit the residents avail basic healthcare. Stating that PMJVK is being overseen by the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA), he urged Patnaik to send a proposal to the Ministry at the earliest. Under the scheme, the Centre bears 60 percent of the capital cost of projects and the state government takes up the rest of the expenditure.
Notably, Odisha has already sent two proposals for medical colleges to be established at Phulbani and Bhawanipatna.
Pradhan has also written to Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi requesting for a hostel to be built for girls studying in schools or colleges in the capital city of Bhubaneswar.
“Projects like girls hostels, residential schools, ITIs and skill centres in locations where students and people migrate to for better facilities for education, skill, and healthcare should be allowed,” said Pradhan.
