Districts in Odisha prepare to tackle COVID-19 amid Festive Season
The Health and Family Welfare Department of Odisha has asked the district administrations and health authorities in the state to be on their toes and ensure adequate preparedness for tackling the spread of COVID-19 during the festive season.
Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, PK Mohapatra, sent a letter to the district authorities highlighting the possibility of a resurgence of COVID-19 as per warnings received from medical experts. Citing the evidence of the second wave in many western European countries as well as the surge of positive cases in Kerala after the Onam festival, he requested to keep up the efforts to contain the pandemic.
“Due to the upcoming festival season and the present unlock situation it is important to re-emphasise amongst the people the importance of following the COVID guidelines, through an intensive and focused campaigning strategy”, Mohapatra said.
Reiterating the Chief Minister’s address earlier this month, Mohapatra urged the authorities to keep up the preparedness of their District/Corporate Limit for management of COVID-19. He also pointed out the need to follow guidelines as any relaxation could have serious implications.
