Odisha Witnesses A Sharp Rise In Number Of Voters

As Odisha gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI)has released the final electoral roll for the state. The total number of voters in Odisha have increased to 3.18 crore, with the addition of 5.84 lakh new electors.

“The number of voters as per the draft e-roll published on September 1 last year was 3,12,52,333. (In the final roll) it has gone up to 3,18,00,787 with the addition of 5,84,454 new voters.”

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar told reporters.
Rise in voters of Odisha

Out of the total voters, 1,63,37,310 are male, 1,54,60,545 female and 2932 are transgender. The number of young voters who fall under the age bracket of 18-24 has increased from 1,33,896 to 5,45,401. Specific provisions are being made for 1,90,037 voters with disabilities so that they could exercise their franchise for the first time.

The number of booths in the state has reached up to 37,606 after rationalisation. Surendra Kumar also informed media that a toll-free number (1950) for the voters’ aid has been created. In case of complaints and grievances, the voters can dial the number for communicating with the authorities.

Odisha’s Elector Population ratio as per the draft publication was 69.75 per cent. It has now increased to 71.26 per cent. Thus, the percentage of female voters per 1000 male voters has seen an increase to 946 from 939.
