Reliance Jio Rapidly Gaining Ground In Odisha

Reliance Jio, one of India’s leading telecom service providers, has surpassed 25% subscriber market share in Odisha, as per the latest mobile subscriber data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), said the company in a press statement.

According to the report, the mobile subscriber base in Odisha saw an increase of nearly 1.6 lakhs in January 2019, taking the overall number to 3.33 crores. However, Odisha remains among the bottom five states with a low teledensity of 77.22.

The data also disclosed that Jio, BSNL and Airtel added subscribers in January while Vodafone and Idea lost over 1.9 lakh subscribers. While Jio added nearly 3.5 lakh subscribers, BSNL added around 22,019 subscribers, followed by Airtel which added 5591 subscribers. In terms of overall numbers, data as on January 31, 2019, shows that Reliance Jio has 84.3 lakhs mobile subscribers in Odisha while Airtel has 1.31 crores, Vodafone Idea has 57 lakhs and BSNL 55.5 lakhs.

Reliance Jio led nationally as well in terms of new mobile subscriber additions in January 2019, adding over 93 lakhs subscribers across India, the highest among all the telecom service providers. They were followed by BSNL with nearly 9.8 lakh additions and Airtel with nearly 1 lakh additions across the country. The overall subscriber base of Jio in India has now surpassed 28.94 crores, as per the data released by TRAI.
