Odisha CM Visits Keonjhar & Rairangpur; Flags Off Several High-Level Projects

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday announced the launch of ‘KALIA Chhatra Bruti’, an initiative which will provide scholarships to the KALIA scheme beneficiaries’ children for pursuing higher education.

Patnaik made this announcement at a farmers’ congregation in Keonjhar district where he also approved development projects worth ₹66 crores and drinking water projects worth ₹1050 crores.

“Under the ‘KALIA Chhatra Bruti’, the government will bear the educational expenses of the children of the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) beneficiaries, who are studying in government professional colleges on merit”, a statement said.

The Chief Minister also visited Rairangpur earlier where he inaugurated 21 developmental projects and laid foundation stones for 15 projects. This includes two high-level bridges over Jaumara Nullah and Balijor Nullah in Bangiriposi and Saraskana block and two bridges over Chhamadadihi Nullah and Guria Nullah in Rairangpur block.

Patnaik inaugurated a 50-bedded ward of Karanjia sub-divisional government hospital and a 30-bedded maternity and paediatrics ward at the community health centre (CHC) at Thakurmunda. In addition to this, he also launched six rural piped water supply projects in Rairangpur block and nine similar projects in Raruan block.

During his visit, the BJD Supremo attended the Mission Shakti convention and handed over Rs 15,000 seed money to 7453 women self-help groups (SHGs), Rs 25 lakh to each block level women’s federation, and Rs 3000 to 7467 women SHGs.
