Naveen’s Government To Have 21 Ministers With 10 Fresh Faces

After the Biju Janata Dal’s massive win in the Assembly elections, Odisha’s governor Ganeshi Lal on Tuesday appointed eleven cabinet ministers with nine Ministers of State on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s recommendations, a release from the Raj Bhavan stated.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on the 29th of May around 10:30 AM, at the Exhibition Ground in Unit-III of Bhubaneswar. The present strength of the Council of Ministers, which stands at 21, is 15% less than that approved by the Sarkaria Commission. The swearing-in ceremony, which marks Naveen’s record fifth time as the Chief Minister, was attended by a galaxy of prominent personalities, including business tycoons, artists, health professionals and the like. Several political leaders were also invited to the oath-taking ceremony.

As he takes the oath, Naveen Patnaik has said that he will embark on a mission to create a ‘nua’ or new Odisha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his best wishes to Patnaik through Twitter, assuring full support from the Centre for the progress of Odisha.
