Delhi Dynamos Owner In Talks To Move Base To Odisha

Dr Anil Sharma of GMS met with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and MP Pinaki Misra, to discuss the possibility of shifting GMS owned ISL team Delhi Dynamos from Delhi to Odisha.

This deal will go a long way in nurturing young players of Odisha and providing them with an incentive to pursue their loved sport. It will see an influx of football fans and open up more opportunities. While football might not be the most popular sport in Odisha, it is catching up pretty fast. Football Association of Odisha (FAO) has recently hosted three editions of the Super Cup.

The state is already known for sports, having hosted the Hockey World Cup in 2018. Odisha has a history of producing top-notch hockey players, a vast majority of which have represented the country in the Olympics and other global level tournaments. With the growing infrastructure of sporting facilities, combined with a number of global tournaments being hosted in the state, it is rightly developing into the ‘Sports Capital of India’.

During the meeting, Dr Sharma also donated 10 lakhs to CM Relief Fund to aid in the redevelopment of cyclone-affected Puri.
