In Pictures: Odisha Begins Rescue and Restoration Work Post Cyclone Yaas

A day after Cyclone Yaas battered the northern coastline of Odisha, rescue and restoration work is in full swing. The severe cyclonic storm thundered into the Dhamra-Balasore coastline with wind speeds gusting up to 155kmph. Yaas has caused widespread damage to infrastructure, uprooted several trees and inundated low lying areas with seawater.

Several units comprising individuals from Odisha Police, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other organisations are on a mission to restore normalcy in the worst-hit districts.
