Royal Bengal Tigress gives birth to two cubs in Nandankanan
The Royal Bengal Tigress Renuka gave birth to two cubs at the Nandankanan Zoo in Bhubaneswar on 22nd December 2018. Both the tigress and her cubs are stable and are being monitored by doctors through CCTV cameras according to zoo authorities.
In good news for wildlife enthusiasts, the tiger population in the Nandankan zoo has increased to 28 after this. Built right in the forest on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, Nandankanan is the first zoo in the world to breed the white tiger and the melanistic tiger.
The zoo also boasts a proud number of 9 white tigers. Earlier in September, white tigress Vijaya had delivered two cubs including one white tiger and the other a Royal Bengal tiger in the zoo.
