Odisha Government To Strengthen ‘Industry Care’

The Odisha government has approved a mechanism to strengthen its ‘Industry care’ initiative in an aim to address the issues faced by investors, officials said.

Chief secretary A P Padhi has sent a letter in this regard to all departmental secretaries on Monday, they added.

The ‘Industry Care’ is a district-wise formal engagement initiative that was launched last month to raise awareness about business reforms and institutional mechanisms among industries. It is also supposed to address all investors’ issues on a high priority.

The initiative also aims at facilitating the expansion of new units coming up in the state. Since its launch, two meetings with Angul and Khurda based industries have been organised under the initiative, according to officials.

“Encouraged by the positive response from large industries to the first two meetings held under Industry Care initiative, the state government has institutionalised the facilitation and aftercare mechanism to ensure faster resolution of issues faced by both MSME and large industries,” said Industries secretary, Sanjeev Chopra

Under this new mechanism approved by the chief secretary, the Industry Care initiative will have daily district-specific meetings for large industries, and weekly state level facilitation cell (SLFC) meetings.

Fortnightly district-wise workshops will be conducted at the level of principal secretary, Industries Department for large industries and monthly meetings will take place at the level of additional chief secretary, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department for MSME units across districts.

The State Project Monitoring Group (SPMG), headed by chief secretary, will monitor the monthly progress made in terms of resolution of issues.
