Healthcare Workers in Odisha to get Free COVID-19 vaccine
The Odisha government has announced that the state will distribute free COVID-19 vaccine to healthcare workers and other frontline workers.
Nabakishore Das, the Health Minister, said “In the first phase, doctors, health workers who are our Corona warriors and elderly persons will be administered Covid-19 vaccine free of cost. In the second phase, we have requested the Centre to vaccinate municipality, electricity, drinking water and other public health workers in the state”. Das has anticipated that the vaccination drive is likely to commence in January.
“The central government is planning to vaccinate nearly 30 crore people during the first phase of vaccination. We are working as per the central government guidelines. The government is ready to distribute and administer the vaccine to its warriors on a priority basis,” Das added.
The Union Government has issued a COVID-19 vaccine distribution drive that consists of detailed guidelines. In Odisha, approximately 3.2 lakh people will be vaccinated in the first phase. The state government has identified 29,276 facilities as storage and distribution centres for the COVID vaccine.
So far, Odisha has reported a total of 3,25,147 positive cases. Today, 351 new COVID-19 cases have been registered, as disclosed by the Information and Public Relations Department. With 358 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the number of recovered patients has increased to 3,20,208. As of today, there are 3,061 active cases in the state and 6502451 cumulative samples tested.
