COVID-19 Drug Remdesivir Now Available In Odisha

According to an official from the Health Department, Covifor, Hetero Healthcare Ltd’s generic version of COVID-19 drug Remdesivir, has reached Odisha and will now be available for use at hospitals.

The drug will only be used to treat critical coronavirus patients admitted at designated COVID hospitals in the state, said the official.

“The drug is available in 100 mg vials. It needs to be administered intravenously in a hospital, critical care setting, under the supervision of a registered medical practitioner,” the pharmaceutical company said in a statement.

The maximum retail price of the drug is Rs 5,400 per vial. Notably, other pharma companies including Cipla and Glenmark have also launched COVID-19 drugs in the market which should be available in Odisha soon.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases continue to see a steady rise both nationally as well as in Odisha. The state has reported 245 new infections in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 6859. Out of the cumulative infections reported until now, 4743 have recovered while 23 have succumbed to death.
