98-year-old Woman From Bhubaneswar Overcomes Covid-19
Inspiring hope among citizens of Bhubaneswar, 98-year-old Annapurna Biswal has successfully overcome the deadly Covid-19. She has recovered from Covid-19 at a time when the whole country is worried about the consequences of the second wave of the virus.
Annapurna, a resident of Bhubaneswar’s Chandrashekharpur area, was diagnosed with Coronavirus on May 5. She was immediately rushed to the SUM COVID Hospital in Bhubaneswar by her family members for treatment.
“The dedicated care extended to my mother has helped her recover”, said her son, Kulamani Biswal.
Even though Annapurna suffers from filaria, hypertension, and diabetes, she started showing signs of improvement within a week of hospitalisation. “We never thought she would recover after she was infected by Covid-19, but we are extremely happy with the treatment given to her”, said her granddaughter-in-law, Rajashree Biswal.
Meanwhile, Odisha witnessed the highest daily spike in Covid-19 cases on Friday with 12,390 new infections. Covid-related deaths reported in the last 24 hours is at 22 while 8,665 people recovered from the disease.
Out of the new Covid cases, 6,938 people got infected in quarantine, while 5,452 caught the infection from local contacts. The total cases now stand at 5,88,687 including 4,82,345 recoveries and 2,273 deaths. At present, there are 1,04,016 active cases in the state.
