50 DRF & 12 ODRAF Personnel Test COVID Positive
Odisha’s COVID-19 poll has crossed the 3,000-mark, with 146 more people testing positive for the infection. The Health Department announced that among the new COVID-19 cases are 49 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and 12 ODRAF personnel, who have tested positive after returning from West Bengal, where they were posted for Amphan restoration work.
“A total of 167 personnel divided into eight teams had been deployed in West Bengal. Upon their return, they were asked to undergo quarantine. Tests were conducted on all returnees,” said NDRF sources. On June 6, only one worker had tested positive. The following day, 49 more were found to be infected by the coronavirus taking the total count to 50.
According to the NDRF, one person has been admitted to the Aswini COVID Hospital in Cuttack while 13 are in KIMS COVID Hospital in Bhubaneswar. “There is nothing to worry about. All 50 personnel are healthy. We hope they recover from COVID-19 soon,” said an NDRF spokesperson.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Odisha stands at 3,140, while the active cases in the state now stand at 996. About 2133 patients have recovered from the virus. Meanwhile, nine persons in the state have succumbed to death due to coronavirus.
