Five Odia Personalities Holding Key Positions in India

Odisha is a land where several eminent personalities have taken birth. Their contributions in their respective fields has given the state a new identity not just in the country but worldwide. Mudhi Mixture takes a look at some of the Odia personalities who are holding key positions in India:

Sanket Ray

Sanket Cocla Odia Personalities

One of the most recent entrants in the list is Sanket Ray, who has been appointed as the president of the Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia region. Currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer of Coca-Cola China, Sanket will take over his new role from January 1, 2021.

Sanket is a student of DM School, Bhubaneswar and pursued his plus two from BJB College. After completing mechanical engineering from NIT Bhopal, he studied MBA from XIMB.

Girish Chandra Murmu

GC Murmu Odia Personalities

The first Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir, Girish Chandra Murmu also became the first Odia to be appointed as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

Murmu was born in Betnoti village in Mayubhanj district in Odisha. He has a Master of Arts in Political Science degree from Utkal University. He is a 1985-batch IAS officer from the Gujarat cadre.

Shaktikanta Das

The 25th Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Shaktikanta Das has served as Economic Affairs Secretary, Revenue Secretary earlier.

Shaktikanta Das was born in Bhubaneswar and studied in DM School. He is a 1980-batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre.

SN Pradhan

SN Pradhan

The Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Satya Narayan Pradhan is a 1988-batch IPS officer. He took over as DG NDRF on January 22, 2019. He was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2012.

Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra

Mrutyunjay Mohapatra

Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra or the ‘Cyclone Man of India,’ is the Chief of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). He is known for accurately predicting the cyclones ravaging the Indian coastline and has given accurate information on Cyclone Phailin (2013), Hudhud (2014), Titli (2018) and Amphan (2019). Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra used to work with Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Chandipur earlier.
