XIMB Sealed As Several Students Found COVID-19 Positive
The campus of premier B-school Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) has been sealed by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation after 23 students tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
“The XIMB campus has been sealed after some of its students and staff tested Covid-19 positive. Until further orders, nobody is allowed to enter the premises. In order to check the spread of Covid-19, a protocol has been put in place for sanitising the college campus, including the documents,” said Purandar Nanda, North Zonal Deputy Commissioner BMC.
Upon getting the information from the XIMB authorities, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) rushed to the premises, sanitised and sealed the entire campus until further orders. Approximately 700 students, faculty and staff were living inside the institute campus.
Prem Chandra Chaudhary, the Municipal Commissioner, informed that all faculties and students of the institute have now been tested for Covid-19 with zero movements into or outside the campus. “All the inhabitants within the campus will strictly remain inside. The supply of essentials and medical requirements if required will be ensured by BMC,” he said.
Students and staff members found positive in subsequent tests were kept in isolation in separate rooms of a single hostel. The institute authorities will make necessary arrangements of food for the patients on time by adhering to Covid norms.
In event of any medical urgency, the institute administration has been directed to contact the BMC control Room or the Zonal Deputy Commissioner.
“There is no reason to be panic. The municipal corporation has been keeping a close watch on the situation and taking precautionary measures to check the further spread of the virus,” said Nanda.
Niranjan Mishra, Director of Public Health, stated that there will be stringent execution of Covid-19 guidelines in the state and people are being asked to adhere to Covid-appropriate behaviour. “The state government will soon take a decision on either to impose lockdown or night curfew,” Mishra stated.
