Odisha Plus III Merit List released, new guidelines on the anvil
The Odisha Higher Education Department today released the first merit list of the candidates who had applied to various plus III degree colleges in the state on its SAMS (School Academic Management System) Portal. The education department had released the common application form on the unified portal on September 8 and had a deadline of September 22, by which the students had to fill up their choices. Over two lakh students had applied for colleges through the portal, the site claims.
Keeping the extraordinary circumstances in mind, the higher education department has allowed for some leeway. This year, the state degree colleges can start the admission process without the requirement of physical certificates. Instead, the interested students can submit the downloaded marksheets, by providing an undertaking, from 29 September onwards.
“Due to COVID-19 pandemic, there is disruption in supplying of original certificates, mark sheets, migration certificates, etc. to the students passing out from CHSE during 2019-20. As a result, they may fail to show original certificates for verification at the time of admission,” read a letter from the DHE to principals of all degree colleges. The letter also emphasised that colleges must not request students to handover their migration certificates from CHSE or other national boards like CBSE or CISCE.
