Odisha Government partners with UNICEF to launch Career Portal for Students
A career portal has been launched through a collaboration between the department of school and mass education, the government of Odisha, and UNICEF. The portal will cater to the secondary and higher secondary students of the state, providing expert advice on their possible future careers.
The portal will allow students to have easy access to information on different careers as well as interaction with teachers. As an add on, the students will be able to get career guidance through a mobile application. Students will be provided with a unique login ID and password and can visit the website ‘odishacareerportal.com‘ to access the necessary information.
Using this portal will provide students access to information on more than 550 career paths, including 2,62,000 colleges and vocational institutes. Moreover, detailed information about 1,150 entrance exams including the application procedure will also be available. They will also get information on more than 1,120 scholarships, competitions, and fellowships for higher education in India and abroad.
“We hope that the career portal reaches all Secondary and Higher Secondary students with its services and information. The portal will enable adolescents to choose a career path in alignment with their aspirations and aptitudes and help to connect them with work opportunities. This also provides opportunities to interact with great personalities, mentors from reputed professional and vocational institutes, enabling students to further understand potential learning and career opportunities”, said Satyabrat Sahoo, Principal Secretary, School and Mass Education Department.
Commenting on this initiative, Dr Monika Nielsen, Chief of Field Office, UNICEF, said that the Odisha career portal is a significant medium for equipping adolescent students of Secondary and Higher Secondary in the state to have a smooth transition from school to work life through Higher Education.
