Odisha Governor Turns Singer, Records An Odia Song

In a deviation from the norm, Odisha Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal rendered his voice for an Odia song. Prof Lal sang the ‘Ei Mati Odisha, ye Jati Odia’ song, which highlights the state’s rich cultural legacy.

Composed by renowned music director Prem Anand, the lyrics of the song has been written by Basant Samal. The song also has the voices of 15 leading singers from the state.

Prof. Ganeshi Lal recorded the song in a studio in Niladri Vihar in Bhubaneswar. Sharing his experience, he said, the song is devoted to the state’s rich culture.

“The song is an invocation to the Lord and will touch the hearts of everyone. When you sing in praise of the Lord, it becomes a ‘Gita Govinda’ or a ‘Bhagwad Gita,” the Governor said.

Music Director Prem Anand expressed his happiness for working with the Governor. “It is an honour to have the Governor render voice for an Odia song. The song is about Odia culture and its contribution to mankind. I hope the song will reach everyone.”

The song and video of ‘Ei Mati Odisha, ye Jati Odia’ will be released on Utkal Diwas.
