Naveen Patnaik approves Draft Plan for Konark Heritage Corridor Project

Continuing its efforts to revamp and beautify the heritage sites in the state, the Odisha Government has planned to re-develop the world-famous Konark Sun Temple. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik gave his nod to the draft plan of the Konark Heritage Corridor Project.

As per the plan, the Sun temple and its periphery will be beautified to attract more tourists. A 3.5km long ring road has been planned around the temple, which will be six-laned.

The Government has also planned to landscape 30 acres of land near the world heritage site. The vendors who will be rehabilitated in the process will be duly compensated.

Besides, the Odisha Government has also planned for an entry plaza to the Konark Sun Temple. A multi-model hub will also be constructed for parking two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles.

A plan is also on the offing to develop the Konark open-air theatre. A special road for the pedestrians will also be constructed. The development work is being undertaken by the 5T department of the Odisha Government.

The Konark Heritage Corridor Project has been initiated to protect the world heritage site and also offer a unique experience to the tourists visiting the place.

Earlier, the Puri Heritage Corridor Project and the beautification of Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar were also announced.
