CRUT MD Arun Bothra Named Among ‘21Heroes2021’
IPS officer and Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) MD Arun Bothra is among the two Indians to have been honoured as the ‘21Heroes2021.’ The tag was given by the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative, a leading global implementation initiative on sustainable mobility. Soumini Jain, the former Mayor of Cochin Corporation Bank in Kochi is the other winner from India.
“Under Arun’s leadership, the public transport sector in Odisha has seen bold changes through the fulfilment of commuter-friendly measures like digital transactions, limitations within buses to sitting-only passengers and the enforcement of a stringent COVID-19 prevention strategy,” the publication read.
In his response, Arun Bothra, credited the CRUT team for the success. “This international honour is actually for CRUT team. As the format was to name the individuals, my name is on the list,” he tweeted.
The publication emphasised on the steps taken by the CRUT MD during the COVID-19 pandemic for the daily commuters. “On buses, Arun enforced mask-wearing, regularly disinfection and social distancing, thus easing the population’s fear of riding public transportation again.”
